Our Story
The First Meeting: December 19, 2019 8:00pm
Maia and David met at Miami’s Best Pizza while hanging out with mutual friends. It was the meeting that almost wasn’t. David was stuck in Miami traffic while Maia was getting antsy at the restaurant waiting for him. David contemplated not going, but when he walked through the door it was like a clap of thunder. In between talks about geography of all things and silly Reddit memes, Maia and David realized that they had unknowingly revolved around each other their whole lives. From living in the same area, having mutual connections, and almost joining the same clubs, there was an ever-present invisible string tying them together. Even Maia’s brother and their friends could tell that there was a growing affection, with Maia’s brother light-heartedly remarking that this would be “trouble.”

Maia y David se conocieron en Miami’s Best Pizza mientras pasaban el rato con amigos en común. Fue el encuentro que casi no sucedió. David estaba atrapado en el tráfico de Miami mientras Maia se ponía nerviosa en el restaurante esperándolo. David pensó en no ir, pero cuando cruzó la puerta fue como un trueno. Entre charlas sobre geografía y memes tontos de Reddit, Maia y David se dieron cuenta de que, sin saberlo, habían estado girando el uno en torno al otro durante toda su vida. Al vivir en la misma zona, tener conexiones mutuas y casi unirse a los mismos clubes, había un hilo invisible siempre presente que los unía. Incluso el hermano de Maia y sus amigos podían notar que había un afecto creciente, y el hermano de Maia comentó con desenfado que esto sería un “problema”.
The Proposal: September 28, 2023 1:00pm
David proposed to Maia at Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden. This was the day he moved the earth and the heavens for her. Leading Maia through the garden and up a stone path to a grassy clearing overlooking the lake, David spelled out the words “Will You Marry Me?” in a handmade grass sign. He presented her with a succulent arrangement in a heart-shaped planter he crafted. When David got on one knee, Maia gave an emotional “yes.” Overwhelmed by their excitement and happiness, David almost forgot to put the ring on her finger. Later that night, David took Maia to the park and set up a telescope he built. When Maia looked through the eyepiece, she saw a constellation with the words “I Love You.” Maia was blown away by these tender gestures and felt incredibly loved.

David le propuso matrimonio a Maia en el Jardín Botánico Tropical Fairchild. Ese fue el día en que movió la tierra y los cielos por ella. Guiando a Maia por el jardín y subiendo por un sendero de piedra hasta un claro cubierto de hierba con vistas al lago, David deletreó las palabras "¿Quieres casarte conmigo?" en un cartel de hierba hecho a mano. Le regaló un arreglo suculento en una maceta con forma de corazón que él mismo había elaborado. Cuando David se arrodilló, Maia dio un emotivo "sí". Abrumado por su emoción y felicidad, David casi se olvidó de ponerle el anillo en el dedo. Más tarde esa noche, David llevó a Maia al parque y montó un telescopio que había construido. Cuando Maia miró por el ocular, vio una constelación con las palabras "Te amo". Maia quedó impresionada por estos tiernos gestos y se sintió increíblemente amada.
The Kitab Al-Kitaab: February 24, 2024 8:00pm
Maia and David were religiously married at Masjid An-Noor with the love and support of their families. They celebrated with their close friends at Al Natour Restaurant later that evening. The night was filled with new and old traditions, with Maia wearing a dress embellished by her mother and David’s family experiencing Islam. It was a beautiful ceremony that they will treasure forever. That night, David presented Maia with a gold locket and pocket watch, vowing to give her his heart and his time forever.

Maia y David se casaron religiosamente en Masjid An-Noor con el amor y el apoyo de sus familias. Más tarde esa noche, celebraron con sus amigos cercanos en el restaurante Al Natour. La noche estuvo llena de tradiciones nuevas y antiguas: Maia lució un vestido adornado por su madre y la familia de David experimentó el Islam. Fue una hermosa ceremonia que atesorarán por siempre. Esa noche, David le regaló a Maia un relicario de oro y un reloj de bolsillo, y prometió darle su corazón y su tiempo para siempre.
